I used images and videos shared by the Islamic State on social media to report this visual article. Two parallel timelines link the group’s war strategy in Syria and Iraq with its strategy online, including its digital campaigns of propaganda, recruitment, and terror.

For the football issue of Colors magazine, I wrote about a football championship held inside a prison in João Pessoa, Brazil, a team of newly-arrived refugees in Melilla, Spain, and a community obssessed with Brazilian football in Abadan, Iran.

I reported this infographic for Super magazine showing the daily diet of Brazilian Olympic athletes in the weeks leading to the Olympics Games in London. It visually compares the amount of food consumed in a day by a weightlifter (first spread); a male and a female gymnast, a marathonist (second spread); a lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight judoka, and a swimmer (third spread). It was awarded an Esso, a journalism award in Brazil.

I helped research and write a book published by Quartz about the objects that power the global economy. I profiled a Japanese startup that wants to clean outer space, talked about biometrics with an American woman born without fingerprints, profiled an Australian company that wants to mine the seabed, ranked passports according to the access they give to global cities, and found iconic political selfies.
